Vadivelu is very fond of his mother. If there is no shooting for two days, he will rush to Madurai to see his mother. He will be at peace only after spending two days with her and eating the food cooked by her.

Vadivelu mostly avoids mutton and chicken items. He is mad after idly and cilantro chutney. He has only chapattis for dinner.

He so fond of long driving in his Swift car.
If he is not able to go to his native place, he goes to his farm house at Padapai and speaks to the mango and coconut trees. He will have the satisfaction of going to his native place.

Vadivelu can be seen in various costumes in the films but in his personal life he wears simple clothes. Sometimes he will be so simple that he cannot be identified. He will never miss wearing black clothes on Saturdays and yellow dress on Thursdays.

If any of his staff commit any mistakes, he will explain the difficulties he has faced to reach this stage. If Vadivelu comes to know that this person has realized his mistake, he will immediately say,” Don’t use me for your comedy,” and make that person laugh.

He has the habit of meeting his friends at his office. If there are close friends, he will send the others away and sing the old songs without any mistake. He is so fond of singing songs written by Kannadasan for MGR.

He will listen to the director about the scene and during the take he will speak the dialogues on his own according to the situation. Because of this there will always be laughing sound at the spot.

Before commencing a new or before doing any good deed, he has the habit of praying before his family deity Ayyanar at his office for 10 minutes closing his eyes.

Vadivelu use to mimic about how his relatives will speak to him whenever he goes to his native place. Only his close friends are lucky enough to enjoy this mimicry.
